Between Land, Sea, and Sky

Selamat pagi/siang/sore, dari hujan tropis Bekasi ke angin dingin Vancouver. I grew up in Bekasi, where life was busy, hot, and humid, but my favorite memories were always when I got to escape the city. One that stands out is hiking Gunung Roti and noticing the different mineral formations along the trail. At the time, I thought minerals and rocks were the most fascinating part of Earth science.

Eventually, though, I found myself drawn more to climatology and ocean dynamics, which is a bit funny, because the very thing that first got me into Earth sciences is something I don’t really enjoy as much anymore. Still, that shift taught me that curiosity doesn’t always move in a straight line; sometimes it evolves in unexpected ways.

Now, studying Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences in Vancouver, I focus on how the atmosphere and ocean connect, and how those connections shape both local environments and the global climate.

Outside of academics, I lovee cooking Indonesian food, it’s one of the ways I stay close to home while living abroad. One of my favourite dishes to cook here is beef rendang with potatoes!

So, this page is where I share that journey, from early hikes in Indonesia to the projects I’m working on today, and the perspective and nuance I carry as someone from Bekasi trying to connect local experiences with global science.
